"To God be the glory, great things he hath done. So loved he the world that he gave us his Son, who yielded his life, an atonement for sin and opened the life gate so all may come in..."

From one of my favorite songs of praise.

I am thinking about our sister Cindy who, right now, is on her way out to Arkansas to see me. Well, not just that, but to pick up my granddaughters and take them back home. They have been on vacation with me, and I am not coming home...for a while.

A Bible verse came to mind about a week ago, and today in my devotion I came upon it. Don't you love the way God works?
From Psalm 105;
"Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm."

Psalm 105: verses 1-15

The Eternal Faithfulness of the LORD
1 O give thanks unto the LORD;
call upon his name:
make known his deeds among the people.

2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him:
talk ye of all his wondrous works.

3 Glory ye in his holy name:
let the heart of them rejoice
that seek the LORD.

4 Seek the LORD, and his strength:
seek his face evermore.

5 Remember his marvelous works that he hath done;
his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant,
ye children of Jacob his chosen.

7 He is the LORD our God:
his judgments are in all the earth.

8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever,
the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, Gen. 12.7 ; 17.8
and his oath unto Isaac; Gen. 26.3

10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law,
and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

11 saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan,
the lot of your inheritance. Gen. 28.13

12 When they were but a few men in number;
yea, very few, and strangers in it;

13 when they went from one nation to another,
from one kingdom to another people;

14 he suffered no man to do them wrong:
yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
This is a great chapter to meditate on how God seems to bless the ungodly until we spend some time with Him and look at these people from His view point. We need to pray that their eyes be opened soon!

Am I being punished by God? I have heard that question being ask over and over when some type of disaster takes place in someone’s life. I am sure you have probably heard it too. Maybe the very first thing you might need to realize is that if God is punishing you, there should not be any doubt in your mind whatsoever that it is God doing it.

If you have to guess what it is you have done to be punished of God, most likely it's not punishment from the Lord at all. The Bible says that it rains on the just and the unjust in Matthew chapter five. It could be that whatever is happening to you is just one of those things that could happen to anyone.

Or I could put it to you another way, then consider someone walking up you and smacking you across the head then walking away without explanation. Now that is downright unfair and mean. Do you consider God unfair? Do you believe He’s capable of being mean? The Bible says in Hebrews chapter twelve that whom God loves, he chastens. Even further it states that without the chastening hand of God on you, you aren't one of His.

So do you not think that if God is going to take you out to the woodshed for a spanking, He’s not going to tell you why? That's just plumb silly because there is no greater love than Gods love my friend and no greater justice than the chastening hand of God. What good would the chastening be without knowing why it's happening in the first place. That would be confusion and God is not the author of confusion.

Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap is what the bible says in Galatians chapter six. If you commit fornication or adultery and wind up with a venereal disease, I think that is a no brainer, at least for a Christian what’s happening. A Christian should very well know that if this is the end result or some other terrible thing that resulted from your actions, you just received the punishment from God. The good Lord protects us but as a punishment for our disobedience, He most certainly can lift that protection surrounding us to teach us a lesson. After all, if you know to do good and don't do it, the Bible says that to us personally, it is sin in James chapter four.
He told me he knew me before I was born
Said my life was evil and trash
On his back were the marks of the lash

I asked him how they came to be
He said He took them so he could save me
Why, I asked, would you care at all ?
He said I was there and I watched you fall

I have walked alongside you for all of your life
Calling your name softly in the day and the night
I've been by your side but a stranger indeed
Waiting for you to hear, waiting for you to see

And now I kneel before you, though I have made the worlds
I beckon to you once more , please listen to my words
Turn from your wicked life and follow me today
Eternal life awaits and I'll show you the way

There are a large degree of Christian Message Boards or Bible Forums on the internet and each one has their own particular theme. Actually it seems there are more Christian message boards than any religion that I can find searching on line.

A few of these bible related forums are actually quite large in membership and contain a varied mixture of sects or beliefs into the mix. These are more what would be called the ecumenical types. The attraction many have to this type of board is the controversy over the different belief systems. The different denominations represented there many times cause disagreement in doctrine and ceremony. This can be expected if the board owners or managers do not keep an eye on what is happening on their particular forum.

Other types are more prayer and support centered. Even some have missions that are outreach oriented to those who are having faith, relationship, or drug problems and are seeking Christian counsel.

There are types that are geared more for a specific denomination such as Baptist, Methodist, Roman Catholic, etc. Also, you will find boards that deal specifically with the various Bible versions and the controversy surrounding them.

My personal favorites are those called apologetics boards which are geared towards defending the faith. These are where I have seen some of the most passionate debates.

At any rate, you will most likely find the type of board you will enjoy discussing your faith with others on if you just do a little creative search engine digging.

Tim Davis is the webmaster of two Christian forums. The first is called the PCIM Christian Fellowship board at http://parsonscorner.org/pcimunity/. The second is an apologetics board called The Old Pathway at http://101info.org/oldpath/. Please feel free to join in on the discussions.

A young man, Dustin Ledford, was killed in a car wreck early this past Saturday, in Cleveland, TN. This young man was my grandson. My daughter gave him up for adoption when she was 17, to a good, God fearing young couple, who couldn't have kids. Of course, we had no contact with this family, seeing little glimpses of Dustin over the years, because we lived in the same town.

My daughter's daughter, who is 20 and five years younger than Dustin, has been in contact for the last few years. He called her sister.

Please pray for the Ledford family, and for mine.

This is a confusing kind of grief I feel. I did not know the boy. Still, he is my flesh and blood. I have no idea what my daughter feels.

Our God is wonderful and powerful. His love is beyond our understanding.

And the one trend I see more than anything else is people saying "I know how it reads but this is really what it is saying". Forgive me again but that just gives me a sick feeling deep down in my gut. Have you not noticed it too? The trend of reinterpreting scriptures or even saying that God didn't really mean what He said.

The strangest example I've seen is someone saying the NIV says it this way and the NASB says it similar but I like the way the HCSB says it because it makes my point clearer, but here is what the Greek really means. This sort of reminds me of the serpent in the garden saying "Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." In other words the devil was saying that God didn't really say what He meant.

Biggest problem / frustration, for me

Over the years, I've had a lot of frustration, when it comes to Deaf Ministry. In the past, I've mentioned how people, who do nothing, while a ministry is being built (by me -- another of my joys!!) will demand to take over and, within a very short time, will have destroyed what I'd labored for months, to build.

Another frustration is this: People, who don't know a thing, demand they know everything.

For example (and, this frustation comes from both hearing and Deaf people, mind you): In Exodus 4:11, God asked Moses, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or Deaf or seeing or blind? Is it not I the Lord?" (NIV)
The King James says something like, "Who has made man's mouth, to speak or not speak? And, who makes man's eyes to be seeing or blind? And, who makes the Deaf and the dumb? Have not I the Lord?"

Any English speaking person understand this verse is saying God made the speaking, the mute, the seeing, the blind, the Deaf and the dumb.
However, Deaf people will demand that the word "not," declares He did NOT do this.
(Also, about 25 years ago, I told a Deaf man, that if he is right that God did not make the Deaf, God also say he'd NOT made speaking, mute, seeing or blind people and that doesn't make sense!!

I've had debate after debate, with Deaf people, who demand their deafness was not from God and, at the same time, have had hearing people demand to lay hands on me and pray for my healing (although I tell them that He has told me He made me this way)...an aside here: Even Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland (to name two) will bind a deaf spirit and, if nothing happens, stop - the thing is, they realize that deafness can begin in the spirit and invade the physical body - BUT not the other way around.

I've also had hearing people demand, "That's not what he's talking about," and then not be able to explain what THEY think he's saying.
You see, God had just called Moses to go to Pharaoh.
Moses was cowardly and tried to hand the responsibility off to his brother, Aaron, saying he had a speech problem.
That's when God said this and it's obvious, at least to me, that He is saying, "I made you that way, I can use you."
(The problem is, those, who don't know, won't accept this!!)

The frustration, I've had, with hearing people is also the thought that I am too dumb (they still equate this word to mean idiot, when, in reality, the man, brought to Jesus was a deaf mute) to do what I, often, have just done - but they didn't see me do it!!

In the past, I've compared this to saying a woman cannot serve God in a women's ministry, because she has the wrong curves.
That's about how I've been led to think, when people say I am, because of deafness, unable to be used by the One, Whoi has repeatedly used me - for the past 32 years!! - in one form or another.

So, may I ask for a concensus opinion of how we can convince people, who are so blinded by age-old, warmed-over, beliefs that the Deaf are and always will be capable of being used by the Spirit, if they, simply, submit to His direction?

Heavenly Father, I praise Your Holy Name because who You are and You are worthy of all praise and honor. Lord, we look for the coming of Your Son very soon. We clearly see the time is close and cannot deny the signs and the times.

Lord, please have mercy on us as a nation. We have become lazy and apathetic concerning Your perfect and Holy will. I ask your forgiveness. Help us Lord to be humbled in Your presence and if we be luke warm to place a fire under us to make us hot for Your greater glory.

Lead us out of our wicked ways, oh Lord and help us to not turn back to them. Help us Father to stand for the right and restore your Word and the Name of Your Precious Son to our homes, our schools, and our government. Revive us Father God, because we are surely guilty of allowing the wicked and ungodly to blind and deafen us from the truth. Forgive us oh Lord I pray...

I ask this in Jesus Name and for His sake,
Amen

Folks, I am asking both my congregation and the people connected to the Parsons Corner ministries to join brother Charles Stanley in 140 days of prayer for our nation. If you would like to post a prayer of your own, please post it in this thread.

The website for the 140 days of prayer is at http://www.intouch.org/resources/140-days-of-prayer

There is a sermon that I would like you all to listen to by Dr. Stanley entitled "Turning the Tide" which can be found on the In Touch Ministries web site at http://www.intouch.org.

Maybe after you have watched it you can start a thread to discuss it here on PCIM or join an existing one. God has pricked my heart with this message and I would consider it a personal favor for you to watch it.

Some of you are aware that I am a guy, with multiple disabilities.
Because of that, I've joined the Association of Late Deafened Adults (though I quit, three years later), the Traumatic Brain Injury - Together (an online group, whose goal is to help TBI patients, who are having problems -- they have helped me, because, unlike the normal patient, my problems didn't occur until I'd been through three comas and seven brain surgeries, in 28+ years).
I have also been a member of the Meningitis Angels, which is a group of people, who have, in one way or another, been effected by the very disease that has left me disabled.

Anyhow, some of the people these groups are Christians though not fully mature and others are simply demanding that Christianity is no different from any other "religion".

One man, who bounced back and forth, between calling himself a Quaker and demanding he is an Agnostic, told me he thinks the Word of God is "hearsay, handed down from one generation to another."
This same man attempted to explain away the resurrection as, "I believe His disciples stole His body," and I told him that's the biggest hearsay in the Word of God, because the Religious Leaders went so far as to attempt to bribe the Roman guards to say those very words!!

During the weeks and months, when I've been unable to get into this site, I've spent a lot of time wondering why people will follow every idiot, who comes along, in an attempt to get into God's heaven -- EXCEPT the Way, provided by God Almighty, Himself.
I've wondered if they think this is too expensive -- It can't be, because it is a FREE GIFT. I've wondered if they think it is too hard -- How can it be, when all you have to do is open a door .. by faith, which doesn't require the output of strength, required to open a cabinet in the kitchen.
Or, is it possible that something, we have, is causing them to seek something easier? I can't believe this, either, because some cults require their people to walk miles, travel by bicycle, knock on many hundred doors, etc., when Christ says, "Come unto Me, all ye, who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

So, why do you think people want to follow some of the idiots, in the world and not the Christ?

They don't want to turn from their wicked ways and repent!!
Many, even some, who claim to serve the King, are all over creation, who have said the Sinner's Prayer but never repented or turned away from their old ways.
