Although promises of protection are throughout the bible, there is no single scriptures that captures God's wonderful ability and desire to deliver His people in time of danger better than psalm 91.
[1] He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[2] I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
[3] Surely[means, with out A doubt] he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
[4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
[5] Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
[6] Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
[7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
[8] Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
[9] Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
[10] There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
[11] For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
[12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
[13] Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
[14] Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
[15] He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
[16] With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Those verses prove that God declares the end from the the beginning, thousands of years ago. He saw our day coming. He knew the dangers that would confront us in theese times, and He specifically promise to protect us from them.
Many things challenge our security today. but God said that we were not to be afraid of them because when they come, we can run to our Father God, and He will be our refuge. A refuge is defined as " that which shelters or protects from danger, distress or calamity, a stronghold which protects by its strength,or A sanctuary which secures safety by its sacredness' any place inaccessible to an enemy.' Is it possible to live in these day's and not have fear?
Please,lets dig into this scriptures.
HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].[be] of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him will I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
yes we can live in these times and not fear,We must establish our selves in the Word of God,meditate the Word, guard your words carefully,Give time to read His Word, and praying for guidance to be able to be steadfast,and not be double minded.see [James;1.]
Surely means:Without A doubt.
One comentary says when the person takes refuge in the secret placeof the Most High"will be enveloped by God's providence so that he can continued to seek holiness and wisdom without fear of those that would seek to do him harm." I like this phrase"enveloped in Gods providence" because it expresses the kind of comprehensive
protection that is ours in psalms; 91. Surely means [without A doubt] he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.[/color]Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.

I have accompanied a team of Street Evangelists to Mardi Gras, in New Orleans, twice.
Both times, the school (I was a student the first time and living on campus the second - after spending 3 1/s2 years in missions) leader required this passage to be memorized, one verse at a time.
The required prayer meetings were every morning, for six weeks, prior to going to New Orleans. They would recite the pasage, repeatedly, which makes it become so much a part of you that nothing can take it away.
Psalm 91 is the most comforting passage in the Bible, if you belong to Jesus. I have offered this Psalm up in prayer many times.
I have thought that it refers specificly to the Lord Jesus, maybe because of these verses: [11] For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
[12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
We are IN HIM, so the blessing and promise is ours as well.
Also, has anyone noticed what seems to me like a change in Personality, starting with verse 14? I know the Holy Spirit inspired the man (Moses?) to write or speak the words, but it seems to me the Father Himself asserts Himself in those last 3 verses.

I love every verse in this chapter. The Psalmist often speaks about the goodness and character of God.In the second verse, says He is my refuge
and my fortress.
Refuge:A shelter or protection from danger,distress, or difficultry. [To take refuge]
is to place oneself in A place or state that affords protection.
Fortress:Fortified place,military stronghold,strengthen,[A defensive position
against attack... to dive moral strength, to incourage.

Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.Because you have set your love upon Me, therefore will I deliver you; I will set you on high, because you knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love,and kindness--trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation. The rich promises of this whole chapter are dependent upon one's meeting exactly the conditions of these first two verses (see Exod. 15:26)And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

"Luke;4-10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone." the devil is saying to Jesus when He was tempted in the wilderness.
Heb.1;14.Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who shall be heirs of salvation?
For it is written, He will give His angels charge over you to guard and watch over you closely and carefully;
Ref.
Luke;10,17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

That is good direction. When things are clicking I do alot of personal evangelism and some training (though I need it more) and that is very good direction to learn about God's protection to give you the confidence and faith needed to accomplish the task. Good post.
I really like verse 4b. "his truth shall be thy shield and buckler."
The items are often described as the same thing, but actually a shield and a buckler are different instruments of protection. A shield is a large item that was intended to cover a large portion of the body to protect against arrows that fly and are difficult to predict. The Buckler is a small shield, normally circular in shape that is used to fend off attacks in a melee. It is designed to be mobile so that one can use it effectively to block attacks.
For this we are not to fear the terror by night nor the arrow that flies by night for God has protected us against those things that strike from afar, and from those things that strike up close. There is no weakness in the defense other than our willingness to trust it.
Thank you so much Theabaud, you have encouraged me. All of us
need each other. you have A good insight of this scripture.
In Luke 10;19. JESUS said Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
This scripture is what He protect us through, but if we don't stay in the
Word, renewing our minds,so we are speaking the Word, this causes us to be able to remain under the shadow of the ALMIGHTY GOD.YES hE IS OUR SHIELD AND BUCKLER.
For this we are not to fear the terror by night nor the arrow that flies by night for God has protected us against those things that strike from afar, and from those things that strike up close. There is no weakness in the defense other than our willingness to trust it.

When I read or pray this chapter, I do it in first person.
My Father God has said;
Because I has set my love upon Him, therefore HE will deliver Me;He will set me on high, because I know and understand His name [I has a personal knowledge of His mercy, love, and kindness--trusts and relies on Him, knowing He will never forsake me, no, never].I shall call upon Him, and He will answer him; He will be with me in trouble, He will deliver me and honor me.
