I have started a blog. I thought I would post at least the first entry here. If there is interest I may post more.
I have never really understood the idea of "blogging." I mean, what is the big draw of sharing your private thoughts with anyone that has the intelligence to find your blog. After all, my private thoughts are just that, private. True, I keep a journal and I write in it off and on (sometimes more off than on) and in there I record events in my life, some significant, some not so, and my thoughts. But that is just for me (and maybe my family after I am gone). So I have never even toyed with the idea of producing a blog. Until today (about 5 minutes ago as I write this to be precise).
So why the change? What brought about this sudden urge to blog? In short, and not surprising, a book. Equally not surprising is the fact that the author of the book is Max Lucado. Not surprising since he is one of my favorite authors. He always seems to have interesting insights that he shares in short, entertaining, interesting, and easy to read sections.
The book in this case is titled "3:16." (From the name I'm sure you can already tell what it's about.) And from the first 3 pages (which is all I've read so far) I have already been shown something I had never thought of before, but is so obvious and simple that the image of me hitting myself on the forehead and saying "Well DUH! Why didn't I ever see that before." And yet at the same time it is so profound that I just knew I would have to share it. Also, knowing myself, and from previous encounters with Max's work (one of whom inspired me to write a 15 page letter that I ended up sending to Max) I was sure more such insights would be forthcoming. Each with the need to share. Hence the blog.
Since this is my first experience with this, and since I am just starting the book, I have no idea how short, or long these entry's will be. So bear with me. Some may be quite long. As you can see brevity is not one of my strengths. Others may be quite short. In any case I invite you to join me in this journey of discovery. Get the book and read it with me. Dialogue with me. If there is enough interest I will see about starting a group in the Social Groups section for us to discuss things in. I welcome your insights as we journey down this road of discovery together.
