When confronted by Elymas the sourcer and false prophet, Paul said to him “ ...O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? “.
Perverting the ways of the Lord is what the Devil does and subtlety is one of the ways he does this. Subtlety is defined as having the quality of being difficult to detect, meaning that of two lines of thought that seem to be identical, one is slightly different but not everyone can perceive that difference. When people accept the line of thought that is different then the Devil has accomplished his goal. Subtlety is truly a fork in the road of life because as with all forks in any road, each leads to a place different from the original destination.

Given , I agree with you , but I also know that Satan is a subtle enemy . Sometimes he does not place a definite fork in the road , but a gradual turning , so minute as to pass by almost unnoticed. We need to be aware of all the subtleties as well as the straightforward ways Satan tries to deter us from following Christ .

It can be something as simple as a subtle change in the translation or version of the bible we are using , or something as blatant as denying the deity of our Lord .

Thank you for your post .It is cause for thought .

Gal.1
6: I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8: But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed
