Full Version: What about Heaven ???????

I have a couple of questions about Heaven ..Does the bible teach that our loved ones who have gone on are aware of what is happening here ?If so , would this not cause sorrow ?
The scripture says ,

Rv:7:17: For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Rv:21:4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Is this after the New city comes down out of Heaven ? What about our loved ones now ? Do they experience sorrow ?

2: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3: And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Also is there a sense of time in Heaven ?

Rev.6...10: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11: And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Glad to hear what y'all think the scriptures teach .

Wow, Mystery! You've asked some veyr deep and important questions here. Give me a day or so to do some prayer, research and thinking on these questions. David recently preached his wonderful sermon on Heaven. I'll get some imput from him as well.

While the verses you quote are, indeed, talking about the "eternal kingdom" (I am currently studying end times through a book called "The Footsteps of the Messiah" which was written by a Messianic Jewish professor) I find it hard to picture anything but joy in heaven. The only exception to this is when we undergo our judgment. (Don't get me wrong. This is not a judgment for salvation. All our sins were paid for on the cross. This is a judgment of rewards, where we will, in all likelyhood, be shown where we could have been and what we could have done). I do not know if our loved ones who have gone on before us can see what is happening or not. In all likelyhood they are to busy worshiping God to pay much attention to what is happening here. But if they are, I like to think that they are chearing us on, like the crowds do for every runner that is running a marathon.

If we take the death of the beggar Lazarus and the rich man literally , not only are our loved ones in Heaven in a state of remembering , but also those in "torment" are also in a state of remembering their lives on earth and concerned for their families .

The souls mentioned in Rev. 6 10-11 were talking with God . We consider, in the purest sense , prayer to be talking with God . Is it a possibility that when we get to Heaven we will be aware what is happeing on earth ?. These knew they had not yet been avenged . They were praying ..talking with God ..Will we be continuing our intercessory prayers for our loved ones while we are there ?
Another thing that strikes me is these must be physical bodies since He gave to EACH of them a white robe to wear .A spirit would have no need for a robe . Also notice they were united ..they cried with A loud voice not with many voices .

Praise God for the revealed and hidden truths ....
