Retta,
I love this Psalm .

You set a table before me: this expression occurs in an exodus context in Psalm 78:19. As my enemies watch: my enemies see that I am God's friend and guest.
The perfumed oil or ointment , made from olive oil, used especially at banquets (Psalm 104:15; Matthew 26:7; Luke 7:37, 46; John 12:2).

This notation in Oliver's bible says that the picture here is of God having a banquet in our honor . Our great God , the Creator ,honoring us, His creation , with a banquet .

I love Oliver's study he did on this Psalm . His family had sheep long ago . This Psalm pictures God as our Shepherd leading us beside the still water . Oliver said that sheep must have still water to drink . Sheep will not drink from rapidly moving water . God gently leads and guides us to the place of refreshment .

What an awesome God we serve..Allelujah !!

Mystery

Hi Mystery,
I'm having a hard time with this new board. I have started this 2 times,
when I posted it , I don' know what happened.

Mystery, that is so beautiful. Is Oliver your Husband?
Could you perhaps do A study on it. I have been studying A subject
that is not popular with The $ person. I want to be able to say this
so simply, to the point of only being so embedded in our God,that there
is no doubt of what He has for us. Your sister in our Lord aretta

Aretta , I have a hard time with the posting board too . 'Tis a tad bit different . Thanks be to God for your Timmy . He has worked so hard to get this set up . Missed you in chat . I have not been able to get in but was there this evening .

Yes, Retta , Oliver was my husband . He was a good and Godly man . he is now with the Lord . I have a lot of his notes and his work .

How would the study work ? Begin with V.1 ? Would you help ? Wonder if ML would participate also ? I feel sure Grace would .

I would have to be sure it was clear that the work was Oliver's and not mine . (Course I would add my 14twocents)
Lets ask Tim and the others what they think ...

Thanks Retta,
MG

Yes I would be more than delighted to help. maybe you could do his
lifes writings. yes we would need agreement. When I read this,my
hair stood up,so I know it is good, and of the LORD. There are so much
knowledge that dies when the writer is promoted . Gods blessings to
you sweet Lady. Parsonsmom
Ladies, if you click on the button to the bottom left instead of the you will find it less confusing.

The NEW REPLY button gives you a blank reply screen and the REPLY button to the bottom right of a post gives you a quote. Does that help?
good stuff, thanks for that.

Mystery is good in the word, I reguard her much.

I have been studying this, and have come to believe the table that is set for us is here. because we will not have enemies in our new home. glory to god.
Let him be praised.

Mystery and Aretta, Hi, dear Sisters!

Mystery, I love Oliver's and your explanation of that verse from Psalm 23! I'd like to add that sheep have many "enemies", other animals that are not at all thrilled with them, even destructive. But when the "enemy" animals see the shepherd there watching while the sheep feed and eat from great pastures and still waters, they are far less likely to attack. In essence, then, the shepherd is protector! Guardian!

Think about it now in Christian terms. Our God knows that we need the Bread of Life, and the Rivers of Living Water. That is exactly what Jesus is! He is there, as we feed on His Word to guide and guard our thoughts, actions, and words. Ain't God GREAT? The devil doesn't have a chance when the battle is the Lord's! YEA! As Timmy would say: GLORY TO GOD! Like the sheep, we need the still waters of quiet times to hear His voice and get His direction. He's there for us! Hallalujah!
