Everybody knows that, before God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden, He told the serpent that He would allow the Seed of the woman to crush his head, while he would only bruise the heel of that Seed.

The thing, I've wondered about for years, is this: Are we also in the position, to serve the King by continuing His work in bruising satan's head.

And, if not, why not?

Not sure exactly what you are wanting here , Ditto , but I am sure that whatever task God gives , He has and will equip us .

Gen. 3:15 is a declaration , a prophecy , if you will ....:

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The "enmity," God put between the devil and the woman, was Jesus, Himself.
He was born, with no earthly father, which meant sin couldn't touch Him, the way
it does the rest of us.
However, it didn't mean He couldn't (or wouldn't) be tempted and that's how He provided the victory.

Without being able to remember (I need to start writing EVERYTHING down!!!) what I was thinking, before, I'll add, here, that I wonder how many Christians will be shocked, at the Judgement of Works, at what they could have done, but didn't.

This is speaking directly about Yahshua the Son of Yahweh!
Eve thought Yahweh gave her this man through her son Seth, which disqualified Seth from calling upon The Name Of Yahweh. Seth's son, Adam's Grandson Enoch was the first to call on The Name Of Yahweh!
Abba Yahweh is a jealous Elohim and will not put up with other elohim being put in his face. Notice Eve considered her son Seth the promised Messiah makeing him out to be an imaginnary god. Eves son Cain pronounce himself to be a god by his own selfishness and hateful attitude toward his brother, Eve pronounce her third Seth to be a el, these are demogods, false messiahs. Doing this brouht a curse of not knowing Yahweh on Seth.
Yahshua the Son of Yahweh was tempted but without a thought of sinning, because He had NO (0) sin nature in Him! He was before Adam, in heaven with Elohim.
The first man Adam was from the earth, sentual and devilish. The second Man was from Heaven Who is a stregnthening Spirit and a eternal life giving force!
By true faith one day we will see Him as He is, our mortal bodies will be put off that we can recieve our glorious bodies like His body where dwells NO (0) sin, even the thoughts of any such evil.
We will learn war no more war as in resisting evil thoughts casting down every imagination that would exalt itself above the knowlege of Elohim.
Remember Esau was trying to crush Jacob's head, we know what has happen to those who would teach their children to murder. Yahshua will decend with a shout and the enemies of Israel will be destroyed!
I am looking forward to this day, earnestly desireing the coming of Yahshua our Messiah, the one true head crusher!

Rabbi Thomas,
I really appreciate your taking the time to explain this. Your mention of His being tempted, with no thought of sinning, reminds me of a sermon the Youth Pastor at my church in 1978 - 1979 preached.
Rev. Johnny Faull said, "If temptation were sin, we would have no Savior because He was tempted and He sinned not."

Thank you, Gary, for the question, and thank you Rabbi for your awesome insight here. Obviously, the Scripture does refer to Jesus the Christ. I like to think of Jesus as described in Philippians 2:5-11. "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal iwth God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

SO what does that have to do with the current discussion? Simply this: that Jesus Christ, who was fully God and fully man, knew exactly who He was. He did it not consider it to be robbing God to say that He was equal to God, 'cause He is! He was the One prophesied by His Father in the Genesis scriptures Ditto mentioned. He was the only one who was ever perfect, the only one qualified to be our Savior. Yes, He defeated the devil, squashing his head when He rose from the dead to give us eternal life. Of course, we know that the devil is still alive and active, (unfortunately!), but his power is brought down! He has no final authority! We know who the Victor is, and it ain't the devil!

Does that mean that we, too, have that power to crush the devil? I have mixed thoughts here:

1. I don't think we are faultless as He was or that we can beat the devil on our own....NO WAY could that be true!

2. I do believe, however, that when we commit our lives to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He does give us the ability to live holy lives pleasing to Him, not perfect in this lifetime, but mature.

3. I do also know that as Jesus was about to return to His Father, he gathered His disciples to a mountain and made one of the most significant statements ever: "All power is given to me in heaven and in earth". (Matthew 28:18). WOW! But that isn't the end: "Go ye therefore (in other words, in His power) and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghjost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever i have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the world. Amen" (verses 19-20)

So, through an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we can grow in Him and find victory over the power of the devil as we learn more about the mind of the Savior. Perfect, no, but we can grow into mature, loving, witnessing believers!

One last thing: the battle (over sin) belongs to the Lord, and ONLY in His strength and power can we possibly have victory over it! I'm back again to where I began, by saying that we cannot crush the devil on our own, but we can rely on Him who has already found victory over the devil to help us overcome! But, again, that only comes as we, too, know who we are and humble ourselves as he did to come in total obedience to. . .

In coming into mature in Gods word [ The renewing of the mind.] we will
understand what He has made unto us.In his rightousness, we can do all
things through [CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS US].

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,[GODS WORD HIS WILL]

6To the praise of the glory of his[ grace ]wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

9Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

I love that Scripture about renewing the mind, Aretta. Romans 12:1-2 makes that clear. Philippians 2:5-11 also clarifies the situation even further. In renewing our mind as taught in in Romans, we need to "have the mind of Christ" talked about in the Philippians 2 Scripture. Yes, we are given great authority from our Lord, but we need to also keep in mind that Jesus Himself fully knew who He was (The Great I AM), but in total humility gave Himself for us, even going to the Cross. We are given great power through our Lord, but we need to remember that it is HE who gives it to us. We need to use that power humbly, but also boldly.

you said this well Gracie. thank you, this is why I wanted the [WORD] to
speak for me. I am thankful that I am learning who I am in Him. THE WORD is so
established in me,I can never believe His word would not work. I truly hope I have
not offended in any way.

and this is the confidence I have in Him, that, If I ask any thing
according to His will,And if I know that He hears me, what so ever I ask,I know that I have the petitions that I desire of Him.1 John 5:14,15.
I love you Gracie
