The lesson is from First Thessalonians, chapter 11. The Apostle Paul is exorting the church to right thinking, and doing what's right. My pastor preached on it yesterday, pointing out how we sin in our minds, and how vital it is to respond to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. If we have Him, we know the moment we sin, and must be ever ready to repent. We must practice right thinking, and
"Abstain from all apperance of evil" (verse 22). We must strive for obedience.
Paul's prayer for the church:
verse 23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, here's the part where I shout praise to Almighty God.
verse 24: Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it.
We must not give up the fight with this flesh. We must desire and strive to be obedient. And He is faithful! He will sanctify us and preserve us blameless. Not because we are so good, but because of the Holy Blood of Jesus, and because HE IS FAITHFUL.
